So it's finally hit me that making a fuss about issues of the day on FB only hit a few people that actually care. And indeed they may hit some other friends that don't care or are turned off. So I think it makes sense to focus some of my political ramblings in blog form. While I am a flaming liberal, by many standards, I'm also a fixer and favor compromise in most of my daily transactions. I frustrated by the black and white, all or nothing attitudes of politicians and so-called media. I'm frustrated that there are less and less, if any, news outlets not controlled by one side or the other. I'm tired of misdirection from both sides. I'm biased in that I do feel the right does this more and of course better than the left - but I'll listen to arguments to the contrary.
I feel strongly that the concentration of wealth by a smaller and smaller percentage of the population is a fact and is dangerous and counterproductive. Without a middle class who is left to buy "stuff"? I am in favor of universal healthcare even though my business sells health insurance. I feel that "Obamacare" is better than no reform but that the right bastardized it enough so that it's left open to criticism by both sides of political spectrum. Why would big business oppose changes to healthcare when they are the ones currently pressured to provide it? I'm becoming more and more an advocate of term limits, especially since the recently politicized Supreme Court is allowing big corps to buy elections. I believe Clarence Thomas and his wife are disgraceful and he should step down or be impeached. He's self-loathing and mentaly unstable and should not have been nominated nor comfirmed. I'm embarassed to have Mike Kelly as a US Rep. I don't feel he's a bad guy rather being led down a bad path by powerful, money people stroking his ego.

Daughter on the move
It's both exciting and anxiety producing to have a daughter leave for the Peace Corps. We are obviously very proud of her but will miss her a great deal. So far we are encouraged that she'll be able to keep in fairly close contact. I look forward to her posts on her blog.
